In the midst of what seems like unceasing rain, the sun shone on our annual barbecue. It was not too bright when we started but rewarded those who risked coming out by developing into a gorgeous day.
The wide ranging interests of the membership were covered by the 11 cars that turned up for the run, although se7ens did have a majority. Russ decided to be different so no maps, no route instructions, just a list of towns/villages to be visited. Allegedly, all you had to do was follow the signposts. Of course, we all followed Russ and Avril, and amazingly the convoy kept together for nine tenths of the course. However, you can't break the habit of a lifetime and a small yellow car led a short cut but proceeded to lose some of her followers who had to be dissuaded from going completely in the wrong direction. No matter, they all got back to the Bridge and were treated to a superb barbecue with burgers, sausages, chicken and lamb plus a variety of salads - pay £5 and eat all you like. Ten latecomers with various good excuses finally arrived to join in the eating and drinking bit, while one was even too late for that.
