FIVE SEVENS AND A QUATRO
Well, we had four sevens at the start but one had a hiccup and retired at the coffee stop, only to be replaced with a late starter.
As expected, Doug had found us a super route with a good mixture of windy B roads and nice big smooth Welsh A roads largely devoid of traffic. Despite the forecast, the weather was kind and we made our way via Bala and Barmouth, over the toll bridge to Pennmaenpool and lunch at the King Gerge III pub. We kept in convoy the whole way and probably upset a hiding policeman by not speeding on the A4212.
After a good lunch (Doug is good at pubs too) the weather gods were still with us and Yoland braved a ride, sans wind and side screens, in Doug’s car. This was a mistake as the heavens opened throwing hail as well as rain and, to say the least, she got very wet. However, a bit of wet could not dampen a great day and it had dried before we completed the run home via Meifod back to the A483.
Thanks again to Doug for organising it and to those that came to make it an enjoyable outing, but what a pity there were not more cars.
