The First Doug's Run

Having watched, listened to and checked the web for a good weather forcaste on Sunday 25th May - sod`s law it was showery.   This is no problem as long as you have a) a windscreen and roof,  b) no windscreen but a helmet, or c) no roof but a passenger to wipe the inside of the windscreen - it also helps to go faster than the rain can drop on your head.

We were six cars, of which two had mobility problems and one  was forced to retire gracefully before we got to the coast.  We were glad to welcome Andrew Stones and his Cobra, neither of whom had we met before.

Doug had planned a great route which was, I think new to most of us.  The lunch stop at the Pen y bont Hotel was in the most magnifiscent spot, although we were glad the RAF did not chose Sunday to use the building for target practice - Doug says they do this on a regular basis. Then onto Fairbourne - lack of concentration caused two of us to overshoot the turning - and again we were gobsmacked by the view from the estuary up to Cader Idris.
